Dev Hynes Hits The Road With New Blood Orange Material
It seems the winds have shifted for British singer songwriter and producer Dev Hynes. Never one to favour touring, preferring the writing and producing process, Hynes is reportedly itching to hit the road with his Blood Orange project in the fall of 2018, debuting the first new songs since the critically acclaimed 2016 release of his third album Freetown Sound.
Fusing pop, funk and jazz with searing lyrical content and spoken word poetry clips focused on the social and generational forces shaping black culture, politics and his own personal experiences, Hynes' soulful outpouring veers from avant-garde to unabashed, expertly crafted pop that never lacks emotional depth. Cutting an enigmatic figure on stage, he never loses his cool and calm demeanour, favoring subtlety over loud gimmicks.
