Oregon Ballet Theatre - Napoli

Oregon Ballet Theatre - Napoli at Keller Auditorium

Why see Oregon Ballet Theatre - Napoli?

Opening the season

Since 1847, August Bournonville's spirited love-letter to the vibrancy of the Italian city has captured imaginations of ballet lovers, sweeping us into a bright and beautiful romance with deft choreography and exuberant expression. Now Oregon Ballet Theatre open the season on a high, becoming the first U.S company to stage their own production of this three act piece, lending their talents to this decidedly Danish classic.

What is the story of Napoli?

Following the story of Teresina and the object of her attention, the poor but handsome fisherman Gennaro and the strange adventure they embark on to an undersea realm when Teresina is kidnapped by an evil sea spirit, Napoli takes you from the streets of 19th century Naples to an enchanting aquatic realm. Spectacular and a signature in the classical canon, this one is a treat for fans old and new!

Kevin Irving and the team from the Royal Danish Ballet have lifted dance in Portland to a world class level! The dancing was amazing, showcasing Oregon Ballet Theatre's talented company of dancers. Choreographed originally by August Bournonville in 1842, and a jewel in the repertoire of the Royal Danish Ballet, it looked as fresh today as ever. Not to be missed Portland! ... Read more
