A lesser known but equally brilliant Beethoven work
Beethoven's tremendous Fourth Symphony
Beethoven's tremendous Fourth Symphony
Oregon Symphony Orchestra perform a spectacular recital of Beethoven's Fourth symphony, led by conductor Delyana Lazarova. Composed in 1806, Beethoven's Fourth is often considered one of his lighter and more lyrical works. Nestled between the dramatic Third and the monumental Fifth, it stands out with its playful energy and sudden dynamic shifts; although not his most remembered work, it still stands as an example of just why Beethoven's music has the power to delight.
Preceding Beethoven will be Lutoslawski's Little Suite followed by a performance of Billy Child's excellent Diaspora featuring saxophone soloist Steven Banks, a piece which explores through sound the experience of the Black American diaspora as seen through Child's own eyes.
