The Oregon Ballet Theatre kicks off their 30th Anniversary season with a brand new triptych production entitled ROAR(S). Presenting three very different kinetic masterpieces that aptly reflect the renowned company's past, present and future, the production begins with In The Middle, Somewhat Elevated, the revolutionary 1998 work by radical choreographer William Forsythe.
Forsythe's electric shifting symmetries and off-centre balances are then followed by Stravinksy Violin Concerto, a virtuosic abstract ballet emblematic of the celebrated collaborative relationship between Balanchine and Stravinksy. Filled with some of the balletmaster's most unique pas de duex, the piece moves fluidly to the final work of the evening - the late, great Portland choreographer Dennis Spaight's dazzling and exotic Scheherazade.
