Portland welcomes Rachmaninoff's most famous masterpiece!
Rachmaninoff's most famous Piano concert comes to Portland this February for an evening of enthraling music! The Oregon Symphony will be joined by Marc-Andre Hamelin who will lead the masterpiece on the keys. As one of the composer's most enduring pieces, Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto is sure to delight and thrill audiences once again.
The piece was conceived out of celebration as Rachmaninoff shook away the shackles of depression, curing his long stint of writer's block. Dedicated to Nikolai Dahl, the doctor who worked with the composer, Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto established his name across the globe.
