Experience the Nutcracker as you never have before! Breathing new life and excitement into the time-honored holiday tradition, the Oregon Symphony joins forces with Los Angeles-based theatrical circus company Troupe Vertigo to present Tchaikovsky's enchanting Yuletide masterpiece, but instead of stage-based ballet, dancers and cirque artists tumble, cartwheel and take flight as they tell the tale of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince.
Sure to delight all members of the family young and old, the unique blend of acrobatics, contemporary theater, classical dance and gravity-defying, jaw dropping skill weaves around the familiar story - pint-sized heroine Clara, embarks on a whirlwind journey when she's given a Nutcracker doll on Christmas eve... Much to her surprise, the Nutcracker comes to life and an action-packed battle ensues when the fearsome Mouse King and his mischievous minions declare war on the mortal realm. When Clara steps in and wins the battle, she and her Nutcracker prince journey to a faraway land where the Sugar Plum fairy reigns over a court of deliciously sweet dancing confections.
