Four Decades of Stepping Out
I have been a Joe Jackson fan for a long time, and after four decades of great music it was time to get to a show. The Aladdin is a great venue for a variety of reasons but chiefly it size all seats are good, and by Joe’s own comment, it’s cute. The highly appreciative audience were treated to a blazing retrospective of the artists catalogue. Which included such high points as “I’m the manâ€, “Sunday papersâ€, and “one more time “. Joe talent for poppy hits was balanced, by his owe description, with, “soul crushing balladsâ€, like “drowningâ€. All the players were on and sounded great, the drummer Doug Yowell seemed to enjoy breaking his sticks, guitarist Teddy Kumpel was genuinely into his craft and treated the audience to his best. The bassist Graham Maby has been playing with Joe for forty years, played well and looked like he was having fun. It was a great evening of music and it ended with Joe bringing out the original music synthesizer from 1979 and recreating “stepping outâ€.
Incredible show!
Came fully prepared to enjoy this concert. Joe & his amazing band mates rocked the house. We loved him from start to finish. So happy I could be there!
Steppin Out at the Lincoln Theater
I’ve seen Joe Jackson 4 times. Each time has been better than the last. He absolutely burned down the Lincoln theatre in Washington DC last night. Played multiple old hits I’ve loved for decades and did a fantastic cover of Joni Mitchell’s Put up a parking lot. The band was there usual tight ship and the evening was worth twice the admission price. He’s NEVER disappoints.
Incredible musicians, Incredible soundstage, Incredible performance!
Thank you Joe, for the impeccable performance! The room mix and sound was amazing! Watching and hearing you perform at the Lincoln theater in Washington, DC is now a lifetime musical memory!
Boston Shubert
Joe Jackson with his four piece band was extrodinary. It was an intimate portrait of a musican with miles and miles of good work, his voice is clear and strong, his band is tight and the drummer is really amazing.... as is the guitarist and the bass. I thoroughly enjoyed this night. The Shubert is an intimate venue no matter where you sit.
Joe jackson still on top of his game
I bought the last remaining ticket to Joe Jackson's sold out show, and boy, am I glad I did. His voice was amazing , his band was amazing and better, his new material was amazing. Joe's enthusiasm made me not want the night to end. I look forward to his 50th anniversary tour because there will be one!
